Jacques Soisson

Jacques Soisson (born February 1928 in Paris ; † January 25, 2012 ) was a French painter , etcher , sculptor and child and adolescent psychotherapist .

Life

Soisson studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse and then at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier from 1948 to 1951 in the classes for painting and sculpture. Then Soisson was a drawing teacher in Sétif and Oran until 1962. From 1966 to 1978 he worked as a child and adolescent psychotherapist . The drawings or paintings painted by the patients as part of the therapy were collected by him and he set up the Atelier d'art-thérapie . This important collection was donated to the Museum of the St. Roch Hospice in Issoudun with the support of Anne and Arsène Bonafous-Murat . He cooperated with the Institut Édouard Claparède de Neuilly-sur-Seine . A year later, in 1969 , Soisson became a member of the Compagnie de l'art brut and SIPE founded by Jean Dubuffet . An acquaintance between them followed. Since 1978 Jacques Soisson, animated and encouraged by Dubuffet , devoted himself entirely to painting and etching. He last lived and worked in Paris.

His works were characterized by strong colors and shapes, as well as by the virtuosity of colors and the idiosyncratic representation of human physiognomy . In addition, Soisson's works achieved a therapeutic and meditative effect.

His works have been shown successfully in numerous exhibitions in Denmark , Algeria , France , Canada , Sweden and the United States of America .
