Jagat is a village with about 3,500 inhabitants in the south of the Indian state of Rajasthan . The artistically significant Ambika Mata Temple is located here .
location
Jagat lies in a valley of the Aravalli Mountains in the north of Rajasthan at an altitude of about 370 m above sea level. d. M. The distance from Udaipur is approx. 35 km (driving distance) in a southeast direction. The climate is dry and warm; Rain actually only falls during the summer monsoon season .
population
The Hindi and Rajasthani speaking population are predominantly Hindus ; other religions such as Muslims , Jains , Christians , Sikhs , Buddhists and others hardly play a role among the rural population of India. As usual in censuses in northern India, the male population is about 5% higher than the female.
economy
The livelihood of the population is agriculture (wheat, millet and rape), but also cattle breeding (sheep, goats, camels) is practiced to a small extent and mainly for milk and wool production. Day laborers, small traders, etc. also live in the village itself.
history
The history of the place is largely in the dark; however, he was apparently spared from the attacks of the Islamic armies in the Middle Ages because a Hindu temple was preserved.
Attractions
The only attraction is the exceptionally well-preserved Ambika Mata Temple , which is often compared to the significantly larger temple buildings of Khajuraho ( Madhya Pradesh ) , the construction of which is mostly settled around the middle of the 10th century.
