Former hunting lodge in Pasewalk

The Jagdschlösschen is a renaissance building from the 16th century in Pasewalk in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It served the Pomeranian dukes as a hunting lodge and is used by the superintendent or provost in the 21st century .

history

The building was built in the 16th century at the behest of the Pomeranian dukes and was used by them, such as Bogislaw XIV. , As a starting point for hunting in the Ueckermünder Heide . With his death, which fell during the Thirty Years' War , the building lost its intended function. At the same time received parish its own pastor . Before that, a clergyman was responsible for both the Nikolaikirche and St. Mary 's. The new pastor of the Marienkirche therefore moved into the now vacant Jagdschlösschen, although the Nikolaikirche was in the immediate vicinity of the building. Friedrich Wilhelm I , the soldier king, often stayed in Pasewalk and had roses planted in the garden . This garden no longer exists in the 21st century due to a division of the property at a later time. Frederick II gave the building to the pastor, who passed it on to the church. Nevertheless, it served as a guest house for many decades. The requirements only changed with the relocation of the Pomeranian Cuirassier Regiment "Queen" No. 2 to Pasewalk. Many officers were quartered with the Pasewalk citizens before barracks were built at the gates of the city. A house was built especially for the commander of the regiment, the Villa Knobelsdorff , so that he was no longer dependent on the hunting lodge as his residence. Since then, it has served the Protestant parish as a contact point. A renovation took place in the years 1976 to 1978. The building is used in the 21st century by the superintendent or provost and the church administration.

architecture

The building at Baustraße 5 is in the Renaissance style and has two floors with a rectangular floor plan. It is provided with a white, simple plaster. On the street front there are a total of four rectangular window openings and an entrance portal on the ground floor, which is decorated by a round arch. This was the result of a renovation in 1790. On the upper floor, which is separated from the ground floor by a gray-painted cornice , there are seven more windows. All openings, as well as the buttresses on the side, are provided with gray bezels that make them appear larger. The house has a simple hipped roof .
