Pfullingen Hunting Lodge (Baden-Württemberg)
Pfullingen hunting lodge

The Pfullingen hunting lodge is a hunting lodge on the Echaz in Pfullingen (Schlossstrasse) in the Reutlingen district ( Baden-Württemberg ) that was built on the abandoned Rempenburg moated castle , also known as the Lower Castle . In addition to the Lower Castle, there was also the Upper Castle and the so-called Schlössle in the village.

history

The moated castle, which was probably built before 1260, was the seat of Remp von Pfullingen, mentioned since 1260, whose last offspring sold the castle to the Dukes of Württemberg in 1487 .

Duke Christoph had a hunting lodge built in their place from 1560 to 1565 . The builder and architect Aberlin Tretsch († 1577) led the renovation of the moated castle, which amounted to 1675 guilders . Today the south wing of the four-wing ensemble with two high intermediate buildings, which was joined together in the Renaissance style to form a square, is still preserved. The dukes of Württemberg often used the castle as a hunting and living quarters in the following centuries. The interior of the castle has changed significantly up to the present day due to various uses, such as from 1845 to 1920 as a sanatorium and nursing home and other uses. The castle bridge that has been preserved probably dates from 1563.

Todays use

Today the castle houses the Pfullingen music school and the castle kindergarten , and the Wilhelm-Hauff-Realschule uses some of the building's rooms as classrooms. The Pfullingen Castle School is right next to the lap; the castle courtyard is still part of the school grounds.
