Jaime Soto (born December 31, 1955 in Inglewood ) is a Roman Catholic Bishop of Sacramento .

Life

Jaime Soto was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Orange, California , on June 12, 1982 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 23, 2000 auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Orange in California and titular bishop of Segia . The Bishop of Orange, California, Death David Brown , consecrated him as a bishop on May 31 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Michael Patrick Driscoll , Bishop of Boise City , and Bishop Emeritus of Orange, California, Norman Francis McFarland .

On October 11, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as coadjutor of the Diocese of Sacramento. With the resignation of William Keith Weigand on November 29, 2008, Soto succeeded him as Bishop of Sacramento.
