biography

Zamansky was already on skis at the age of two and drove his first children's races when he was eight. In December 1996 he took part in FIS races for the first time, appearances in the Nor-Am Cup followed from November 1998. At the Junior World Championships, in which he participated from 2000 to 2001, his best result was a sixth place in the 2001 combination . From 2002 Zamansky found connection to the top in the Nor-Am Cup. After numerous top 10 results and first podium finishes, he celebrated his first victory on January 6, 2004 in the Sunday River giant slalom . In 2003/04 he finished second in the slalom classification . In the 2005/06 season he was finally able to win the overall and the giant slalom with two victories in the giant slalom on Hunter Mountain and another five podium places (2 × giant slalom, 2 × super-G and 1 × slalom). In the other disciplines he achieved overall placements among the top ten.

In addition to the Nor-Am Cup, Zamansky has also competed regularly in the European Cup since 2001 and in the World Cup since October 2002 . However, his first years in the World Cup were not very successful. He started almost exclusively in giant slalom and slalom, but initially never qualified for the second round of the top 30. He had to end the 2006/07 season in December due to a knee injury he suffered in the Hinterstoder World Cup giant slalom . In the following 2007/08 season he reached second place in the giant slalom ranking in the Nor-Am Cup with three podium places.

In the World Cup, Zamansky concentrated entirely on the giant slalom after his knee injury. After all, on December 21, 2008, in his 33rd World Cup race, the giant slalom on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia , with 24th place, he won his first World Cup points. Also in the next giant slalom of the 2008/09 season at Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden , he was able to score in 27th place, which qualified him for the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère within the US ski team . There he was eliminated in the first round. A week after the World Cup, Zamansky achieved the best World Cup result of his career with 15th place in the giant slalom in Sestriere . The next winter he was able to score twice in the World Cup, 25th in Beaver Creek and 27th in Val-d'Isère. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he finished 31st in the giant slalom. In May 2010, Zamansky announced his resignation. Since then he has competed in FIS races occasionally.
