Jakob Binck or Jakob Bink (* 1490 or 1504 in Cologne ; † August 28, 1569 in Königsberg ) was a German painter and engraver of the Renaissance .

life and work

Nothing is known about his youth and training. In 1529 he stayed in the Netherlands, from around 1534 he was court painter to King Christian III. from Denmark . 1541/42 he worked in Sweden and went in 1543 to the court of Albrecht of Prussia , where he remained until 1548. This was followed by changing employment, 1548 accompanied by the Princess Anne of Denmark to Saxony, two stays in Antwerp to epitaphs at Cornelis Floris to order , and in 1550 the commission to design fortifications in brim . In 1553 he finally entered the service of the Prussian court.

His graphic work includes around 250 copper engravings and etchings, a large part consists of copies, especially by the brothers Barthel and Hans Sebald Beham and other German, Dutch and Italian artists.
