Jakob Graf (politician)

Jakob Bernhard Graf (born July 24, 1824 in Maisprach ; † January 10, 1887 in Liestal ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Graf graduated from the canton school in Aarau, then studied law in Heidelberg , Berlin and Paris . From 1852 to 1862 Count was governor of the Liestal district and from 1862 to 1864 and 1870 to 1879 the public prosecutor of the canton of Basel-Landschaft . In 1864 he resigned in protest at his poor re-election and worked as a lawyer between 1864 and 1866.

From 1866 to 1870 Graf was active as a free-spirited government councilor, he held the justice and police department. He was a representative of the so-called anti against Christoph Rolles excessive party regiment. From 1863 to 1867 and from 1872 to 1887 he was a member of the National Council . Until 1880 he was also a suppleant of the Federal Supreme Court several times . From 1878 to 1887 he worked in the district administrator , as well as part-time president of the criminal court.

As President of the People's Association, campaigned for the revision of the Federal Constitution from 1872 to 1874 .
