Jakob Johann von Taube ( Swedish : Jakob Johan Taube af Kudding ) (born November 5, 1624 - † February 25, 1695 ) was a Swedish major general and governor general in Ingermanland .

Life

Taube came from the baronial Estonian line kudding of the German-Baltic noble family von Taube . His parents were the Swedish governor or castle captain of Reval and hereditary lord of Kudding, Jost Taube and Iliana Hansdotter Görtzhagen († 1639), from Finnish nobility.

career

Jakob Johann von Taube was already enrolled as a student at the University of Dorpat in 1633 . He was chamberlain to Prince Karl Gustav until his coronation in 1654 and accompanied Duke Adolf Johann on his trips abroad from 1647 to 1649 and from 1658 to 1659 .

In 1649 he was a lieutenant colonel in a German squadron of the Swedish dragoons , became commander in Weidenhelm and rose to colonel in the Närkes and Värmland regiment in 1651. In 1655 he was employed as a colonel in a Finnish cavalry regiment. In the Second Northern War he was in 1655 in command of Janovitz Castle and then took part in the Battle of Warsaw as the leader of Västgöta Reiter .

His appointment as Swedish Marshal took place in 1663, that of Governor General of Ingermanland and Kexholm in 1664. Only in the following year did he rise to the rank of Major General of the Infantry and in 1668 advanced to Lieutenant General of the Infantry. 1673 Dove was again in the position of Governor-General of Ingria and Kexholm set and in the Swedish 1675 baron ennobled . He had submitted his departure in 1678, but was left in his offices by the King until 1681.

family

Taube married Baroness Maria Horn af Marienborg (1642–1695), daughter of the Swedish Field Marshal and Governor General Baron Gustaf Evertsson Horn in Stockholm in 1661, and the marriage had four children.
