Gustaf Adam Taube ( German : Gustav Adam von Taube ; * December 1, 1673 , † October 14, 1732 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish Imperial Councilor and Field Marshal .

Life

Taube came from the baron Estonian line Kudding of the German-Baltic noble family von Taube . His parents were the Swedish Major General and Governor General in Ingermanland Jakob Johan Taube , Freiherr auf Kudding (1624–1695) and Freiin Maria Horn af Marienborg (1642–1695), daughter of the Swedish Field Marshal and Governor General Baron Gustaf Evertsson Horn .

He began his career as Kornet in 1684 . In 1689 he was a lieutenant in the garrison regiment in Stade and in 1700 he became an adjutant of the Swedish cavalry general in the army in Livonia . In 1703 he led a rank colonel as head of a dragoon regiment, 1710, he joined the Östgöta Cavalry Regiment, three months later for Skåne Dragoons, then was promoted in 1711 to lieutenant general and was 1712 Pomerania added. He was employed as governor of Wismar in 1713, before moving to Stockholm in the following year in the same position.

Taube took part in the Great Northern War on the Swedish side , was briefly imprisoned near Poltava after being wounded in the arm, but was already back in the field before Helsingborg . In 1718 he was appointed to the imperial council, on April 17, 1719 he was raised to the rank of Swedish count and on June 19, 1719 promoted to the rank of field marshal. Taube was also appointed Governor General of Estonia in 1719 - but never took office. In 1732 he was briefly the owner of Krapperup Castle .

family

Taube was married to Anna Dorothea von Fersen (1670–1752), a half-sister of Count Reinhold Johan von Fersen . The marriage resulted in three daughters and one son:

  4. Johanna Taube (1702–1773) ⚭ 1724 Johan Georg Schmiterlöw (1686–1729), Swedish colonel

The Count's line he donated was introduced under No. 62 to the Count's class of the Swedish knighthood , but became extinct in the male line around 1900 .
