Albedyll (also Albedyhll, Albedyhl ) is the name of an old, originally from Riga originating noble family . It is also the name of two families ennobled in 1798 and 1925.

history

The family of Albedyll appears for the first time in a document in Riga in 1349 with Nicolaus Albedelle and begins its line of tribe with Claves Albedille (documented 1473–1503), who was a vassal of the Archbishop of Riga. It later passed into the landed nobility and received the Swedish baron status on March 2, 1720. The royal Swedish lieutenant general of the infantry and governor of Riga, Heinrich Otto von Albedyll , received the introduction to the Swedish knighthood on March 2, 1720 together with the royal Swedish Major General of the Cavalry , Christer Henrick von Albedyll , the latter under the name of Freiherr von Albedyhll (No. 182).

The von Albedyll enrolled in 1745 with the Estonian Knighthood (No. 2), in 1747 with the Livonian Knighthood (No. 35) and also with the Courland Knighthood (No. 211).

Kurt Georg Emil von Albedyll (1855–1923), the younger brother of Eugen von Albedyll , emigrated to the USA after 1870 and became the progenitor of the so-called American branch of the family and thus of all von Albedylls living in the USA ; this is currently around 65–70 living male and female born albedylls . Most of the family members live in Washington and Wisconsin states .

The family of Albedhyll (1798) goes back to Conrad , the natural son of the Prussian captain Christer Philipp Wilhelm Baron d'Albedyhll , who received the Prussian nobility legitimation on March 8, 1798. It has the same coat of arms as that of Albedyll .
