Jakob Ortner
Jakob Ortner (born June 11, 1879 in Büchsenhausen near Innsbruck , † August 16, 1959 in Payerbach ) was an Austrian guitarist , lutenist , composer and music teacher .
Life
Ortner was impressed by the Tárrega school after traveling to Spain and Italy . He studied guitar with Luigi Mozzani , a student of Miguel Llobet . The latter stayed as a guest at his home in Vienna in 1922. Ortner taught at the Vienna Music Academy from 1910 and became the first professor of guitar there in 1914 . He is considered the most important Austrian guitar teacher. Luise Walker and Karl Scheit are among his students . From 1927 he published the Austrian guitar magazine.
