Jakob Pollak
Jakob Pollak (born around 1460 probably in Bavaria; died 1541 in Lublin ) was a Jewish scholar. He was a student of Jacob Margolioth von Nürnberg , with whose son he worked as a rabbi in Prague , then in Bohemia , from 1490 to 1492 . In 1506 he followed Jewish emigrants to Krakow , acted as rabbi in the Jewish community founded there and organized the establishment of a yeshiva , which he took over. He brought the methodology of precise distinctions and logical analyzes (hillukim, see Pilpul ) taught in Prague into his Kraków teaching business. In 1530 he visited Eretz Israel and after his return he took up residence in Lublin, where he died in 1541.
