Roi David Miedema (born September 17, 1989 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch chess player .

Life

It used to be known as Roi Miedema. Since April 2010 he has been using his middle name David. He learned to play chess from his father.

Miedema first played club chess in the Netherlands for Eindhoven , in the 2009/10 season in the Dutch Meesterklasse ("Meisterklasse", 1st division) for Schrijvers Rotterdam and from 2010 to 2014 he played for HMC Calder Den Bosch . From there he moved to UVS Nijmegen , who competed in class 2, the third highest Dutch division, in the 2014/15 season. In France he plays for the northern French club AJE Noyon . In Belgium he played for the East Flanders club Boey Temse , which is named after Jozef Boey , after which he moved to KSK Rochade Eupen-Kelmis . In the 2019/20 season he played for the Koninklijke Gentse Schaakkring Ruy Lopez . In Germany he played for SC-HP Böblingen ; from the 2010/11 season he was a member of SG Porz , and since the 2015/16 season he has played for the Düsseldorf SK 1914/25 .

successes

In 2002 he won the Dutch U15 championship in rapid chess . In August 2008 he finished second, tied with the winner Vincent Rothuis , at the open Dutch youth championship, which was held at the University of Twente in Enschede .

He achieved his first standard for the title of International Master at the Infomart GfK Open in Hilversum in April 2008, his second IM standard at the 13th Neckar Open in April 2009 in Deizisau , where he was able to defeat Alexander Graf , among others , the final IM Norm at the Dutch Individual Championship in Haaksbergen in September 2009 . The title was awarded to him in October 2009. At the Dutch Open in Dieren in July 2009, he finished second behind Erwin l'Ami . At the 14th Neckar Open 2010 he was third; there he achieved a GM standard with his performance .
