Jakub Hempel

Jakub Hempel (also Jakob Hempel or Joachim Hempel , born July 22, 1762 in Allenstein ; † May 10, 1831 in Lublin ) was an architect who worked in Poland - especially in the greater Lublin area. He was an important representative of classicism .

Life

Hempel was of German descent, studied in Italy (this is where the project for a large theater in Rome originated ) and came to Poland in the course of the partitions in 1790. He worked there as general builder for Prince Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski in Puławy . From 1812 he was the builder of the Lublin Department in the Duchy of Warsaw , from 1821 that of the Voivodeship in Congress Poland . Hempel was involved in most of the region's major construction projects at the time. In Warsaw he designed a magnificent portico for the Lubomirski Palace , which rests on ten Ionic columns and an arcade foundation. In Warsaw in 1830 by Andrzej Gołoński the Frageta rental building in the style of Neo-Renaissance built for him. Hempel died in Lublin.
