James Anthony Griffin (born June 13, 1934 in Fairview Park ) is Old Bishop of Columbus .

Life

The auxiliary bishop in Cleveland , John Krol , ordained him on May 28, 1960. Priest .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on June 30, 1979 auxiliary bishop in Cleveland and titular bishop of Hólar . The Bishop of Cleveland, James Aloysius Hickey , ordained him episcopally on August 1 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Clarence George Issenmann , Bishop Emeritus of Cleveland, and Joseph Abel Francis SVD , Auxiliary Bishop of Newark .

He was named Bishop of Columbus on February 8, 1983, and installed in office on April 25 of the same year. He resigned from his office on October 14, 2004.
