Jim teacher
James Charles "Jim" Lehrer (born May 19, 1934 in Wichita , Kansas , † January 23, 2020 in Washington, DC ) was an American journalist and news anchor for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) . From 1970 he was an anchorman , initially for a local broadcaster in Dallas , Texas, and from 1973 for the national public broadcast service. From 1975 onwards, his constantly evolving news formats were named after him.
He was considered to be particularly neutral and independent, a good interviewer and was referred to as the dean of moderators (for example, " doyen of the moderators"). From 1988 to 2012 he moderated all TV duels in the presidential election campaign, initially alone, and later as a team . In 2016 he was a board member of the Commission on Presidential Debates , which organizes the television debates .
In 1991 a teacher was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1999 he was awarded the National Humanities Medal by the National Endowment for the Humanities . Teacher was also active as a writer; he has written nonfiction, novels, dramas and several autobiographies.
