James L. Dozier

James Lee Dozier (born April 10, 1931 in Arcadia , Florida ) is a former major general in the US Army . On December 17, 1981, he was kidnapped in Italy by the Red Brigades and freed on January 28, 1982 by the special police unit NOCS ( Nucleo Operativo Centrale di Sicurezza ) .

Life

James Lee Dozier, son of Joseph B. Dozier and his wife Leota Caruthers Dozier, completed an officer training at the US Military Academy in West Point , which he completed in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). He was then taken on as a lieutenant and found various uses in units of the US Army. A post-graduate studies in specialized aerospace engineering at the University of Arizona closed it in 1964 with a Master of Science (MSc Aerospace Engineering) from. He was from 1971 to 1973 Commander ( Commanding Officer ) in Germany stationed 1st  Squadron of the 1st Armored Division ( 1st Armored Division ) belonging to the 1st Cavalry Regiment, and after 1974-1976 Staff Officer in the Office of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Army for Research, Development and Procurement (Deputy Chief of Staff of the US Army for Research, Development and Acquisition) and in personal union Military Assistant to the Assistant US Secretary of the Army .

Then acted Dozier 1976 to 1978 as commander of the in Fort Hood stationed 2nd Brigade of the 2nd Armored Division ( 2nd Armored Division ) and then 1978 to 1979 as chief of staff of the 2nd Armored Division, before there from 1979 to 1980 Chief of Staff of the III. US Corps ( III Corps ) was. Brigadier General Dozier was then Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics and Administration of the Allied Land Forces of NATO in Southern Europe LANDSOUTH (Allied Land Forces Southern Europe) between 1980 and 1982 . During this time he was kidnapped on December 17, 1981 in Italy by the Red Brigades and freed on January 28, 1982 by the special police force NOCS ( Nucleo Operativo Centrale di Sicurezza ) . After his return he acted from 1982 to 1983 as deputy commandant of the school of armored forces (US Army Armor School) in Fort Knox and most recently between 1983 and 1985 deputy commanding general of the III. US Corps at Fort Hood. He was promoted to major general in 1984 and retired in 1985.

After retiring from active military service, James L. Dozier moved into the private sector and was President of the Golden Grove Management Corporation from 1985 to 1987 and President of the Suncoast Media Group in 1987 . He was then Managing Director of David C. Brown Enterprises from 1988 to 1993 and has owned the JCS Group since 1993 . His marriage to Judith I. Stimpson on June 30, 1956 resulted in a son and daughter.
