James Laurenson (born February 17, 1940 in Marton , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand actor .

Live and act

Laurenson, the son of Scottish immigrants, had studied at the University of Christchurch in his New Zealand homeland and at the time also tried his hand at amateur actors. Through the mediation of the crime writer Ngaio Marsh , who had directed him in 1962 in a performance of Macbeth at the local Civic Theater, he came to London in 1962 , where Laurenson took acting lessons. He then appeared as an ensemble member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for two years in Shakespeare plays such as Richard II and Hamlet and also appeared in other classical plays.

In Great Britain, Laurenson got his first film role in 1969 after his first television experience in 1965. A little later he returned to his homeland. In Australia in 1971 he was offered the title role of the Australian police inspector Bonaparte, called "Boney", in the television series of the same name . Thanks to one of his parents, this Boney had Aboriginal roots, which helped him clear up many cases in the outback . This series, broadcast every Saturday in Germany 1974/75 on ZDF at 6 p.m., made Laurenson very popular in Germany for a short time. His later appearances in cinema and television film productions, including many series products in Great Britain and the USA , pale in comparison. His work includes more than 100 productions.

Eventually he settled in Britain for good. Laurenson, who also had vocal talent and appeared in the musical 42nd Street in London's Theater Royal Drury Lane , was married to Carol Macready. They both have a son named Jamie.
