Live and act

Acting career

The son of a steward attended the École Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague in Paris and then took acting lessons at the Cours Simon . As early as the late 1940s, Nicaud appeared on stage for the first time and in the following decades appeared in such diverse pieces as Nina, La Roulotte, Fabien, La Prétentaine, La Collection Dressen, Au revoir Charlie, L'Amour propre, Trois Hommes sur un cheval , Fleur de cactus, Duos sur canapé, Acapulco Madame, Pepsie and Banco! , many of them comedies, with.

Philippe Nicaud had started filming while he was still a student in 1948. At first he embodied young men of all kinds; Pianists, students and actors. He later grew into the character subject, then also played police inspectors, dance teachers, and generals. Hardly any of these productions are of film-historical importance, but in view of the fact that he had partners there such as Viviane Romance , Jeanne Moreau , Brigitte Bardot and Louis de Funès , they boosted Nicaud's popularity in France in the long term. Outside the country's borders it remained largely unknown.

Since the 1960s he has been standing in front of the television camera regularly and has worked in several series in addition to individual productions. In 1986 he was hired by Austria's star director Franz Antel to take on the small role of Jacques Offenbach in his Strauss film .

Career as a singer

Nicaud had already tried his hand at singing since the 1950s and had several albums ( Erotico Nicaud , 7 + 1 péchés capitaux , Chansons cu… rieuses ) and singles ( Le Jour de la tortue , J'aime ou j'emm… , Brève rencontre , La Séparation , C'ex , Cuisses nues, bottes de cuir ). This resulted in collaboration with such respected artists as Charles Aznavour , France Gall and Annie Girardot .

In Germany, Nicaud, who had largely withdrawn from show business at the age of 70, remained largely unknown despite his versatility.
