Squeak ... squeak ... who's drilling for oil? (Original title: Pouic-Pouic ) is a French comedy film from 1963 with Louis de Funès in the leading role. It was the first in a series of films by director Jean Girault starring him.

action

The successful stock market speculator Léonard Monestier receives a supposedly worthless oil concession in the Venezuelan jungle as a birthday present from his wife Cynthia. In order to get rid of the unloved gift, Léonard devises the plan to sell the concession to the naive millionaire Antoine Brévin, who has had an eye on his daughter Patricia. Patricia tries to counter the advances by hiring a taxi driver as an alleged husband. In order to convince Antoine to buy, Léonard persuades Simon to play his son, who has just arrived from South America. Unexpectedly, the real Paul Monestier suddenly appears in the door, with the South American beauty Palma in tow, whom he wants to marry. The ever more desperate attempts to bring the matter to a solution that is satisfactory for all concerned actually succeed in the end.

Reviews

The Lexicon of International Films describes the film as "grotesque comedy entertainment". FilmsDeFrance says he cannot hide his stage origin and that he suffers a little from uninspired staging, but that the actors turn him into a tour de force of comedy.
