The man who fell to earth (original title: The Man Who Fell to Earth ) is an American science fiction film by Bobby Roth from the year 1987 with Lewis Smith in the lead role.
The ABC - TV movie is a remake of the classic The Man Who Fell to Earth by Roeg Nicolas from the year 1976 with David Bowie in the lead role. It was produced as the pilot of a television series that was never realized. In Germany it was sold exclusively as a video from 1987 onwards.

After a storm of meteorites , all life on the planet Anterus threatens to perish. One of the residents is therefore looking for new living space with two others. You discover the earth . However, the spaceship crashes and his two companions die in this crash. Only he survives and has to hide among the people. He then decides to do everything possible to return to Anterus.
For this purpose he disguises himself and lives among the people under the name John Dory. He gets in touch with an entrepreneur and with his help founds World Enterprises. With the help of his "inventions" he undertakes to ensure that the company is very successful. In return, the entrepreneur should use part of the profits to enable John to build a spaceship that will enable him to return to his home planet and relocate his people to earth.
Over time, as planned, the company becomes successful and John Dory receives the funds he needs to build the spaceship. So he starts building the ship as planned. However, the government has started suspecting him and is starting to monitor him, so he must act cautiously. In addition, due to his long loneliness on the planet, he wants to make acquaintances, which is dangerous under these circumstances.
