James Fred Robert "Dick" Sargeant (born March 17, 1936 in Kobe , Japan ) is a former Australian sailor .
successes
James Sargeant took part in the Olympic Games twice. At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo , he competed in the 5.5-meter class alongside Peter O'Donnell as a crew member of helmsman Bill Northam . The three Australians won three of the seven races and became Olympic champions with 5981 points ahead of the Swedish boat around Lars Thörn and the US boat led by John McNamara . Four years later he just missed another medal win in Mexico City together with Carl Ryves as fourth in the Flying Dutchman boat class . In 1962 he took part in the America's Cup .
