Ernst Hjalmar Karlsson (born March 1, 1906 in Örebro , † April 2, 1992 in Ekerö ) was a Swedish sailor .

successes

Hjalmar Karlsson, who was a member of the Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet , took part in the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne in the 5.5-meter class alongside Sture Stork as a crew member of skipper Lars Thörn . The three Swedes won three of the seven races and were Olympic champions with 5527 points ahead of the US boat around Robert Perry and the Australian boat led by Jock Sturrock .

His sons Arne and Per-Olof were also sailors and participants in Olympic regattas.
