Jamie Pittman (born July 18, 1981 in Brisbane ) is a former Australian professional boxer .

Amateur career

Jamie Pittman won 111 of 137 fights as an amateur. He was Australian welterweight champion in 1999, light middleweight in 2002 and middleweight in 2003.

At the Oceanic Championships, he won welterweight gold in 1999, light middleweight bronze in 2002, and middleweight gold in 2004. In the 2004 final, he defeated Richard Rowles . He also won the gold medal at the 2003 Commonwealth Championships in Malaysia by beating Eamon O'Kane in the final .

Pittman was also a participant in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in England , the 2002 World Cup in Kazakhstan and the 2003 World Championships in Thailand .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece , he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Lukas Wilaschek .

Opponents of his amateur career included the later successful professional boxers Jean Pascal and Gennadi Golowkin .

Professional career

Pittman switched to the professional camp after the Olympic Games and won several regional titles in the following years. In his only professional fight outside of Australia, he boxed on April 5, 2008 in Castello Düsseldorf in Germany for the WBA world championship in the middleweight division, but was defeated by the German title holder Felix Sturm by technical knockout in the seventh round. In January 2013 he played his last fight, but stayed in the sport as a coach.
