Jamnik (German Jamnig ) is a Slovenian mountain village in the Upper Carniola in the municipality of the city of Kranj (German: Krainburg). The place is on the eastern edge of the Jelovica plateau.
history
The place Jamnik was founded in the course of the advent of iron ore mining in the region. In 1944 - during the Second World War - the place was burned down by German soldiers and rebuilt in the following years.
Attractions
- Chapel in the village with wooden statues of Saints Primus and Felicianus on the altar. In the second half of the 19th century, it was frescoed inside and out.
- Church of St. Primus and Felicianus: The listed church is visible from afar and is located on a ridge outside Jamnik. Lookout point with a view of the Ljubljana Basin , the Karawanken and the Steiner Alps .
- Memorial to the Slovenian national hero Lojze Kebet-Štefan on the road to Kropa , who died in an attack on October 20, 1942.
