Jan Bogaerts

Jan Bogaerts (born July 10, 1948 in Helmond , Netherlands ) is a Dutch photographer .

Bogaerts was the exhibition "Sweet Life" by Photographer of Elsken Ed van early in the photograph carefully.

He went to the "Art Academy Sint Joost" in Breda , after which he studied for a few more years at the "Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten" in Amsterdam (specialization: visual communication). From 1975 he worked for magazines such as: “Nieuwe Revu”, “Panorama” and “ Vrij Nederland ”, but also for foreign newspapers such as “Time” and “ The Independent ” he made photo reports.

In the 1980s and 1990s he received various commissions from municipalities and provinces. His work is aimed at major exhibitions and major photo festivals. At the “Zilveren Camara”, an annual competition for Dutch photojournalists, Bogaerts received third prize in 1991 and first prize in 1994 in the “Portrait” category.

When his friend Karel Glastra van Loon and his family left for Thailand for three months in early 2003 to set up a foundation for refugees and write a novel , Bogaerts decided to visit him. Deeply impressed by the conditions and pictures in the refugee camp "Mae La", the idea arose to publish a photo book about it: "De onzichtbaren in beeld"

They also made the short film “Een beetje hoop” for Dutch television .
