Jan Bulank (German Jan Bulang ; born September 7, 1931 in Ostro ; † January 17, 2002 in Meschwitz ) was a Sorbian composer and choir conductor.

Jan Bulank studied music in Leipzig and Weimar from 1952 to 1958 . From 1960 to 1964 he was assistant at the Sorbian Institute and artistic director of the State Ensemble for Sorbian Folk Culture in Bautzen, and from 1970 its chief musical director.

During his studies, he began to compose children's and mass songs. He began his career as a choir director in 1964 when he took over the “Lipa” teachers' choir in Panschwitz . He was also the founder of the Central Choir of Domowina (from 1969 Budyšin Choir ).

For the State Folk Ensemble for Sorbian Folk Culture he wrote a. a. Ballet music.

Jan Bulak was also co-editor of the new edition of the Towaršny spěwnik (Sociable hymn book), which was or is mainly used in Sorbian music lessons. In 1977 he was awarded the GDR Art Prize.

The composer's grave with an interesting implementation of the cross symbol as a tombstone is located on the Nikolaifriedhof in Bautzen .
