Jan Englert

Jan Englert (born May 11, 1943 in Warsaw ) is a Polish actor and director .

life and work

Englert made his debut at the age of 13 in the role of liaison man Zefirek in Andrzej Wajda's Der Kanal , a film about the Warsaw Uprising . From then on, his passion was acting, so that - after passing his Abitur - he attended the Warsaw Theater School and graduated in 1964. His first stage position took him to the Polish Theater in his hometown, to which he belonged for five years, until he finally switched to a contemporary theater. Here he played u. a. in Witkiewicz 's The Mother , in Ionesco's Macbett and Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard .

At the beginning of his film career he often played revolutionary heroes or brave fighters, was later able to break away from his image and became a sought-after character actor.
