Killer is a 1997 Polish comedy film .

action

Jerzy Kiler is a taxi driver in Warsaw . He's an extremely average guy, but he is very unlucky. The Polish police have been looking for a contract killer known as the "killer" for a long time. Jerzy Kiler is mistaken for the multiple murderer and arrested by Inspector Ryba. The murder weapon was found in his taxi. This piece of evidence is enough to put Jerzy Kiler in jail. In prison he experiences something like respect for the first time in his life, as the other inmates see him as the dangerous murderer. Jerzy feels flattered and plays along with the game. By chance, a fellow prisoner actually dies at his hand, which only leads to even greater respect. Eventually Jerzy is freed from prison by the gang boss Siara and now has to act as the hit man in freedom. Journalist Ewa Szańska tried to interview Jerzy as a killer while in prison. Now Siara demands the murder of the dangerous investigative journalist. Jerzy meets with her and falls in love with the attractive woman. He would never be able to harm the woman. Another contract killing by Siara becomes even more important. Senator Lipski is a criminal competitor of Siara. Jerzy is supposed to murder the senator. When he comes into contact with Lipski, Lipski again orders him to murder Siara. Now Jerzy has to do justice to both in order not to betray himself. Together with Ewa, he is making a film report about the murder of Senator Lipski. He shows the cassette to Siara, who believes him. Then they anesthetize Siara and put make-up on him like after a gunshot wound. The alleged body is shown to Senator Lipski. There is a showdown at Warsaw Airport. When Siara and Lipski appear there to pick up a money transport, the two see that they are not dead and attack each other. Eventually Inspector Ryba resolves the situation and captures them both. Jerzy and Ewa want to flee with the money they have swindled. However, you are first discovered by the actual killer, but the police arrest him as well.

Reviews

“Satire on Polish society; at the same time a parody of action films. Funny in the dialogues and well played, the film ultimately remains too attached to the genre to stand out from the majority of western-oriented productions. "

Awards

The film won the 1997 audience award at the Polish Film Festival Gdynia.
