Jan Machulski
Jan Henryk Machulski (born July 3, 1928 in Łódź , † November 20, 2008 in Warsaw ) was a Polish actor and director .
Life
Jan Machulski graduated from the Higher Drama School in Łódź (now the University of Film, Television and Theater Łódź ). He then played in the Stefan Jaracz Theater in Olsztyn until 1955 (Teatr im. Stefana Jarcza w Olsztynie) and from 1955 to 1957 in the Theater in Opole (Teatr Ziemia Opolski) . His son Juliusz Machulski was born there in 1955 . In 1957 Machulski went to Lublin to the Juliusz Osterwa Theater there. In 1963 Machulski, who always referred to himself as Łódźer, moved to the New Theater in Łódź . There he played until he moved to the Polish Theater in Warsaw (Teatr Polski w Warszawie) in 1966. In 1970 or 1974, Machulski, now married, opened the Ochota Theater (Teatr Ochoty w Warszawie) together with his wife Halina Machulska . He remained head of the theater until 1996. In 1971 he finished his training as a director at the Warsaw State Theater School. In 1972 he went to the National Theater (Teatr Narodowy) , where he played until 1974. In 1974 he went to the Łódź Film School as a teacher. From 1981 to 1983 and 1991 to 1996 he was the dean of the school's drama department.
In 1998 Jan Machulski received a star on Piotrkowska Street in Łódź. From 1999 Jan Machulski ran a private drama school for children and young people in Łódź. Shortly before his death, Jan Machulski became an honorary citizen of the city of Łódź in November 2008.

Jan Machulski made his film debut in 1953 in the film Trzy opowieści by Ewa Poleska.
Since Machulski appeared at the beginning of his theater career mainly in small theaters, he had the chance to play big roles early on. In Opole, for example, he played Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Mercutio ; furthermore in Lublin the Court Marshal von Kalb in Kabale und Liebe . In his Ochota Theater, Machulski and his wife directed, among others, Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream . He was also seen in numerous Polish television series. For example Daleko od szosy , Podróż za alles uśmiech and Polskie drogi .
He made his debut as a theater director in 1963.
