action

On September 1, 1939, the war breaks out. During the first two days, Bydgoszcz is relatively calm. Some shops, cafes and offices are open. However, people spend their free time with radio receivers and hear reports from the front lines. On the morning of September 3rd, soldiers of the Polish "Pomeranian Army" appeared in the streets of Bydgoszcz and were in retreat. Suddenly there are shots in all parts of the city through which the army is marching. A hail of machine-gun bullets fell on Polish soldiers from the windows and roofs of the houses. In addition to the regular army, civilians, mainly boy scouts and railway workers, also fight against German divers. In the middle of the action, the Pole Piotr and the German Anna-Maria love each other and would like to be together. Both suffer humiliation from their parents and compatriots.
