Jan Hvězda z Vícemilic , called Bzdinka († October 18, 1425 in Kamenice ), was a Czech military leader.

Career

Jan Hvězda came from Vicemilice dolní . He went down in history as the leader of the insurgents after the overthrow in October 1421, initiated by Jan Želivský . At Želivský's suggestion, Brzdinka was appointed Prague's highest captain. In 1422 he commanded the Prague groups in the battle against King Sigismund near Kuttenberg and Deutschbrod . Shortly after, after Želivský fell out of favor, the Prague Masters also deposed Bzdínka.

Disappointed, he allied himself with Bohuslav von Schwanberg and with united forces they tried in vain to take Prague in 1422 . In 1423 he led the army that wanted to conquer Telč . After he came to the aid of the residents of Meinhard von Neuhaus , they had to withdraw. The siege of Roštejn Castle was also unsuccessful . They withdrew to Bohemia and destroyed the Sternberg Castle . There was another attack by Meinhard von Neuhaus near Horní Dubenky after the Hussites withdrew to Pelhřimov .

Jan Hvězda z Vícemilic was then captain in Königgrätz for a short time and joined Jan Žižka a short time later . Hvězda was involved in the conquest of Kostelec nad Labem , Pilsen and Přibyslav . When Žižka also went blind in the second eye, Hvězda became his closest adviser. After Žižka's death he was appointed leader of the Taborites. In 1425 he tried again to conquer Prague in vain. He died in October of injuries sustained during the siege of Vožice Castle .
