Bohuslav von Schwanberg (Czech Bohuslav ze Švamberka ) (* before 1396, † after November 24, 1425 in Retz ) was a Bohemian nobleman, politician and military leader.

Life

Bohuslav came from the Bohemian noble family of Schwanbergs and owned several farms in the Pilsen region . In 1396, under the reign of Wenceslas IV, he was appointed High Chamberlain and Highest Judge. In 1408 he confirmed the city's freedoms to the city of Bor . He opposed King Wenceslas IV after he had contested some lands for his uncle John, but later made peace with the king and got some of the property back. In 1415 he was commissioned by Wenceslaus to conduct peace negotiations with the city of Pilsen. At the beginning of the Hussite movement, he was their bitter opponent and fought alongside the Catholics in the battles near Nekmíř and Panský Bor . In 1419 he and his brother Hynek received the dominions of Pomuk and Manetin from King Sigismund for their services to the defense of the city of Pilsen . In 1421 the Hussites besieged his castle Schwanberg near Krasíkov .
