Jan Reker (born June 3, 1948 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch former football coach and current football official.

Career

Coaching career

During his active football career, Reker only made it into the youth department of FC Eindhoven . He never signed a professional contract.

His coaching career began at the age of 21 when he became youth coach at Willem II Tilburg and two years later held the same post at PSV Eindhoven . In 1977 he took over the position of assistant coach at the then Eredivisie representative VVV Venlo . In the January 1980 season, Reker was again obliged by PSV , where he worked briefly as an interim coach of the professional team before he was replaced by Thijs Libregts , who was the official successor of Kees Rijvers . Three years later Libregts had to leave and Reker was finally head coach of the Red-Whites ". He was runner-up in 1984 and 1985, before the coach won the fifth national championship in 1986. Soon afterwards he took over VVV Venlo. With two fifth places in 1987 and In 1988, he achieved the best result in the club's history with the club. Between 1988 and 1991, Reker was drawn to league competitors before he took on MVV Maastricht for another year in 1995 .

Football official / president

After he turned away from the coaching career, Reker took over the chairmanship of the coach Betaald Voetbal (CBV), an association to protect the rights of coaches, which he founded in 1990. On July 1, 2007, he returned to PSV Eindhoven and took over the position of President. There he replaced Frits Schuitema . One of his first big tasks was to replace the failed Ronald Koeman in October 2008 . After there were two temporary solutions with Jan Wouters and Sef Vergoossen , Reker finally introduced Huub Stevens as the new head coach for the 2009/10 season . Before that, Vergossen was able to win the first championship title in Reker's term of office.
