Jan de Brandt

Jan de Brandt (born January 20, 1959 ) is a Belgian volleyball coach. He currently trains the Hungarian women's national team .

biography

De Brandt was active as a player from 1978 to 1991 and completed 350 international matches for the Belgian national team during this time . As a coach, he initially worked with male teams until he first coached women in 2001. From 2005 to 2007 he was in charge of the female national team in his home country. During this time he distinguished himself through successful youth work and achieved seventh place at the 2007 European Championships in his own country.

In the 2007/08 season de Brandt worked for the Spanish club CV Tenerife . In January 2009 he moved to Fenerbahçe İstanbul . With the Turkish first division club he was national champion and third in the CEV Cup in 2009 . In the following season, the Belgian won the triple of national championship, cup and Supercup with İstanbul. In the Champions League, Fenerbahçe only lost in the final against Foppapedretti Bergamo . Then de Brandt went to Azerbaijan to Igtisadchi Baku and achieved third place with the club in the national championship and in the Challenge Cup in 2011 .

In the summer of 2013, the Swiss first division club VBC introduced Voléro Zürich de Brandt as a new coach. Shortly before the start of the 2013/14 season, however, he was dismissed due to differences with the club's management. In March 2014, de Brandt took over the position of head coach of the Hungarian women's national team . A little later he and the team qualified for the 2015 European Championship ; it is the first European Championship participation for Hungary in 27 years. From May 2014 to January 2015, de Brandt was also a coach for the German Bundesliga club Rote Raben Vilsbiburg .
