Jan z Lublina

Jan z Lublina (also: Joannis de Lublin , Johannes de Lublin , Johannes von Lublin ) was a Polish organist, choir director and composer.

Jan von Lublin was a canon member of the Order of the Augustinian Canons in Krasnik and worked there as an organist, choirmaster and music teacher. Between 1537 and 1548 he wrote the Tabulatura Jana z Lublina . In addition to his own works, he collected the organ compositions of contemporary Polish, German and Italian masters in the tablature . It is considered the central source for the history of Polish and German organ music and, with 520 pages, is the most extensive organ tablature of its time. Included are u. a. Compositions by Domenico Bianchini , Girolamo Cavazzoni , Heinrich Finck , Clément Janequin , Josquin Desprez , Ludwig Senfl , Thomas Stoltzer , Philippe Verdelot and Mikołaj z Krakowa .
