Jana Ressel

Jana Ressel (* before 1998) is a German choreographer .

Life

Jana Ressel received her training in music (violin), in classical dance , modern dance , pedagogy and choreography in Lübeck , at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig and at the Palucca School in Dresden (diploma).

Study visits took her to New York and Vienna . Jana Ressel worked as a dancer in various dance companies and with choreographers in Leipzig , Weimar and Frankfurt am Main . Since 1999 he has created a number of his own choreographies, for example the dance piece “Grido” for the festival for contemporary music in Würzburg and pieces for the Dresden festivals TANZherbst and Tanzwoche . In addition, she produced dance pieces and music theater productions for the dance theater “Orbis Pictus” in Weimar as well as for the LOFFT Leipzig and productions for the Blaumilchkanal e. V. Leipzig . With a grant from the Dresdner Bank Cultural Foundation, her German-Israeli dance project “LOOPS” was launched in Tel Aviv in 2006/07.

As a freelance choreographer, she works closely with contemporary composers and their compositions for her pieces. a. András Hamary, Ludger Vollmer , Hartmut Dorschner, Shlomi Frige, Steffen Reinhold and Friedemann Stolte. The resulting pieces testify to the close exchange between musical structure and dance composition.

Furthermore, she works as a lecturer for stage dance and movement at the Leipzig University of Music and Theater and gives workshops in contemporary dance. As a lecturer, she dedicates herself to working with students in the singing and acting department, and as a choreographer for music theater productions.
