Jannah Sunshine

Jannah Sonnenschein (born April 24, 1996 in Kerkrade , Netherlands ) is a Dutch - Mozambican swimmer. Sonnenschein represented Mozambique at the 2016 Olympic Games in the 100 m butterfly discipline .

Life

Sonnenschein was born in Kerkrade in the Netherlands and moved to Mozambique with her family shortly after she was born . She spent most of her life there. She completed her school career at New Mexico State University . At a young age, Sonnenschein began to train at the Golfinhos de Maputo swimming club and achieved good results early on.

Sonnenschein has lived in Eindhoven since 2012 to train there for her swimming career with Eiffel Swimmers PSV . In 2014, Sonnenschein took part in the Commonwealth Games in Scotland . In 2014, Sonnenschein also took part in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing for the first time, where she was also the flag bearer of the Mozambican delegation. She reached a time of 1:03:50 min in the 100 m butterfly and thus reached a new Mozambican national record. She was also the first Mozambican swimmer to qualify for the Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Sonnenschein also qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and was part of Mozambique's six-person sports delegation . In her discipline of 100 m butterfly, Sonnenschein was eliminated in the preliminary round with a time of 1: 04.21 minutes and thus achieved the 38th (of 45) places.
