Jasmin Sokolović

Jasmin Sokolovic (born February 19, 1962 in Sarajevo ) is a Bosnian musician ( trumpet ).

Life

Between 1969 and 1977 he attended elementary school, then until 1981 the music school in Sarajevo, where he began to learn the trumpet as his main instrument . Between 1982 and 1996 he attended the Music Academy and Conservatory in Zagreb and Sarajevo in the class of Professor Stanko Selak .

Between 1977 and 1981 he won first prize twice in the national competition for young Yugoslav artists up to the age of 18.

As early as 1980 he began to play in the Sarajevo Opera, the Philharmonic and the Jazz Orchestra of the City of Sarajevo. From 1984 to 1992 he worked his way up to the first solo trumpet in the Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra of the City of Sarajevo. During this time the orchestra toured the world and he received significant recognition as a solo orchestral musician.

He played under numerous recognized conductors such as Zubin Mehta , Claudio Abbado , Yehudi Menuhin , Oskar Danon and many others.

He worked in the orchestra as a solo trumpeter with José Carreras , Ruggero Raimondi , Cecilia Gasdia , Ildikó Komlósi and many others.

Since 1992 he has worked as a professor of trumpet playing and conductor in Germany, where he achieved significant success and recognition in this field. As a conductor with the Dabringhausen Wind Orchestra, he won first prize twice at national level in Germany .

During his career he worked with many musicians such as: Band Haustor , Hari Mata Hari , Bijelo dugme , Band Soko , Haris Džinović , Toma Zdravković , Zdravko Čolić , Dino Merlin and many others.

For many years he played with the group of Dino Merlin ; Among other things, they took part in the election of the Eurovision Song Contest .
