Jason Altmire

Jason Altmire (born March 7, 1968 in Kittanning , Armstrong County , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2013 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jason Altmire first attended Burrell High School , where he was a successful football player up to a knee injury . Until 1990 he studied at Florida State University in Tallahassee . This was followed by studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC until 1998 . Between 1991 and 1996 he was on the staff of Congressman Pete Peterson of Florida . In 1998 he returned to Pennsylvania, where he worked for the Medical Center of the University of Pittsburgh worked. He was also a member of numerous social organizations. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 2006 congressional election , Altmire was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the fourth constituency of Pennsylvania, where he succeeded Melissa Hart on January 3, 2007 . After two re-elections, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2013. Since he could not prevail in the primaries of his party in April 2012 against Mark Critz , he was no longer nominated for re-election. Altmire was considered a moderate MP. He was a member of the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, as well as a total of five sub-committees.
