Jason David Detrick (born December 5, 1980 in Lautzenhausen ) is an American - Austrian basketball player.

career

Detrick was born in Lautzenhausen, Germany, his father was a soldier in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for a while. Due to the father's occupation, the family moved several times, he grew up in places in the states of California , Montana , Pennsylvania and Virginia . After he had played from 1999 to 2001 at the Southwest Missouri State University-West Plains (in whose Hall of Fame he was later inducted ), he was from 2001 to 2004 in the squad of the selection of the University of Oklahoma . 2002 Detrick advanced with Oklahoma to the final tournament of the NCAA . He also graduated with a degree in African-American studies.

He began his career as a professional basketball player with the Oberwart Gunners in the Austrian Bundesliga and immediately caused a sensation in his first season: With Oberwart he won the cup competition and was runner-up. As a new league player, Detrick scored an average of 26.4 points per game in 36 Bundesliga appearances and was named the best Bundesliga player of the 2004/05 season.

With Groningen he reached the final of the Dutch championship in 2006, but had to be content with silver. As in Oberwart, Detrick was one of the best offensive players in the Bundesliga with his second club in Austria ( Panthers Fürstenfeld ) in the 2006/07 season. Between 2007 and 2012 he was active in Spain: In the second division of the country he again proved his class as a reliable basket shooter. In the ACB league , the top division in Spain, where he played for Lagun Aro in 2009/10, he was less successful in this regard.

After the years in Spain, he made trips to Cyprus and Brazil, a short return to Oberwart and an interlude in the Italian Serie A before moving to BC Vienna in February 2014 . He was runner-up with the Viennese in 2015. For the 2016/17 season he moved from Vienna to Arkadia Traiskirchen .

In the run-up to the 2017/18 season, he returned to BC Hallmann (formerly BC Zepter) in Vienna. In 2018/19 he was named the best Austrian player of the season, and he was also the best scorer in the regular season.
