George Jay Gould II (born  September 1, 1888 in New York City , †  January 26, 1935 in Margaretville , Delaware County, NY ) was an American athlete.

At the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, he won the only official competition in Olympic history in the sport of Jeu de Paume , a backlash game that is considered the forerunner of modern tennis . Only at the Games in 1924 in Paris and 1928 in Amsterdam Jeu de Paume part as a demonstration sport once more to the Olympic program. In addition to his Olympic victory, Gould was world champion from 1914 to 1916 and from 1906 to 1925 uninterrupted American amateur champion in this sport.

George Jay Gould II was married and had one son and two daughters. His grandfather was the railroad entrepreneur Jay Gould . He died of an esophageal haemorrhage .
