Jean-Christophe Keck

Jean-Christophe Keck (born 1964 in Briançon ) is a French conductor and musicologist . He is editor of the "Offenbach Edition Keck" (OEK) on the composer Jacques Offenbach .

Life

Keck studied conducting and singing at the Paris Conservatory . After a few engagements, he gave up his tenor career and concentrated on conducting. Keck had various engagements as a conductor, for example with the Orchester National d'Île-de-France, the Orchester de l'Opéra de Tours and the Orchester Régional de Cannes. He has been working regularly with the Orchester Pasdeloup and the Chamber Orchestra Pro 05 since 1999 . Keck also appears as a radio host for France Musique . In April 2012 he conducted von Offenbach Ba-ta-clan and Mesdames de la Halle at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin .

At Boosey & Hawkes , Keck has been the publisher of the “Offenbach Edition Keck” (OEK) since 1999. At the Festival de Radio-France Montpellier in 2002, Keck's revised version of Les Fées du Rhin was staged. The stage works La Périchole , La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein , La Vie Parisienne , Orphée aux enfers and Les Brigands were also staged in Keck's new edition. For the unfinished opera Les Contes d'Hoffmann , the Schott publishing house offers Kecks research results together with those of Michael Kaye as a “Kaye-Keck version”.

In 2008, Keck created the record label "Orphée 58", which focuses on the music of Offenbach.

Keck has found previously unknown scores and manuscripts by the composer among the descendants of Jacques Offenbach, which are awaiting indexing.
