Jean-Michel Veranneman de Watervliet

Jean-Michel Veranneman de Watervliet (born July 11, 1947 in Bruges , † October 14, 2018 in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Jean-Michel Veranneman grew up in Belgium and Portugal . He studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and the Université Libre de Bruxelles , where he received a bachelor's degree in sociology , and a degree in journalism from the Flemish Vrije Universiteit Brussel . He also completed an internship semester at the European Commission in Brussels.

After he had been promoted to officer in the Ardennes Chasseur Regiment of the Belgian Army, he entered the foreign service in 1976. He was accredited in Bonn , Brasília , La Paz , the UN headquarters and the permanent representation to the EU in Brussels. He was exequatur as consul general in São Paulo , Brazil .

He wrote books on Portuguese emigration, the history of Africa and the topic of the sovereign nation state.
