Jean Vérame

Jean Vérame (born November 30, 1939 in Ghent ) is a French artist of Belgian origin who lives in France.

Life

As a painter and sculptor, Jean Vérame deals with the dimension of the landscape and the development of nomadic art around the world. His interventions in the landscape refer to local art forms and his works are their further development.

In 1965 Jean Vérame collected and painted a thousand stones on the beach of Cap Ferrat , in 1967 he erected slate pyramids in the mountains of the Alpes-Maritimes and gravel mountains in the Pyrénées Orientales region . In 1968 he built stone mountains near Mouton Anu (Alpes-Maritimes department) and crystal cliffs in the mountains of Castelet (Alpes-Maritimes department).

Between 1970 and 1974 he painted a kilometer of rock walls and pebble beaches on a river bed in the Cevennes, both above and below the waterline. In 1976 he painted 2½ kilometers of the coast at the Désert des Agriates in Corsica.

In 1978 he set up 17 stones he had painted blue in a canyon near Amarillo , Texas, and explored the wilderness on the Sinai Peninsula . In 1979 he painted seven granite stones on a meadow in Normandy with signs and markings. Between 1980 and 1981, Verame painted twelve zones in the Sinai desert and on the Hallaoui plateau in Egypt, spread over 80 km².

In 1984, near Tafraoute in Morocco, at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, he carried out a multi-dimensional work in different sizes on the granite rock of the Anti-Atlas . This installation is commonly referred to as blue rocks . In 1985, he painted the canvas that covered the Musée d'Orsay during restoration.

In 1987 he erected 47 stones at the foot of the Alpilles in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence . In 1989 carried out a multi-dimensional work in the Tibesti massif in northern Chad . In 1992 he anchored four boats painted in Brittany on the lake in front of the Abbey of Saint-Maurice .

In 1996 he created an illuminated stained glass for the town hall of Meaux and in 2007 stained glass in Marseille .
