Jean Wilhelm Pfendt
Jean Wilhelm Pfendt , also Jean-Wilhelm Pfendt, actually Johannes Pfendt, ( October 18, 1900 in Bürgeln , Hesse - January 8, 1974 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) was a German opera singer ( bass ).
Life
Pfendt was trained at the Hoch Conservatory and made his debut in Gotha in 1933 as "König" in Aida . He left Gotha in 1935 and went to Nordhausen. In 1937 he moved to the Augsburg Theater , and in 1939 to the Weimar National Theater . In 1941 he went from there to Hamburg, where he stayed until 1963.
There he mainly took on medium and small roles such as the "Kuno" in Freischütz , the "Monterone" in Rigoletto , the "Duke" in Guntram , the "Kothner" in the Meistersinger and the "Police Commissioner" in the Rosenkavalier etc.
