Jef Tomesch

Jef Tomesch (born February 16, 1976 in Hamburg ) is a former German basketball player . The 1.92 meter tall player played in the basketball league for Bayreuth and Oldenburg .

Career

Tomesch's home club is SC Rist Wedel , for whom he played in the youth and then in the Wedel men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 1997 he moved from Wedel to Bundesliga club Basket Bayreuth . There he played until the end of the 1999/2000 season and was then committed by the Oldenburg TB . With the Lower Saxony he made it into the top German league in his first season and then played for Oldenburg in the first division. During the 2001/02 season Tomesch left Oldenburg and moved to the second division club BG 74 Göttingen . With the "Veilchen", the strong distance thrower immediately became a pillar of the squad and was one of the best points collectors in the second division in the 2001/02 season with an average of over 20 points per game.

In the 2002/03 season he played for Düsseldorf Magics in the 2nd Bundesliga and then moved to USC Freiburg (also 2nd Bundesliga) in 2003 . There he was part of the squad until his retirement in 2006. After Tomesch had finished his sporting career, he worked temporarily in management at USC before devoting himself to entirely professional tasks outside of basketball. According to the Bundesliga special issue 2000/01 of the specialist magazine Basketball, Tomesch's strengths as a player included "a fast, safe and unexcited style of play" as well as the quick attack and the throw from distance.
