Jeffrey Kurland

Jeffrey Kurland (born March 10, 1952 in Bronx , New York City ) is an American costume designer .

Life

Kurland graduated from Northwestern University and received his Bachelor Accounts as a designer . He moved to New York and worked there as a costume designer at the theater. His film career began in 1980 when he first worked with Woody Allen while working as an assistant costume designer for Stardust Memories . After an interim step as an associate costume designer for Zelig , he was Allen's permanent costume designer from 1984 to 1996. In total, he was involved in 18 films by Woody Allen. 1995 Kurland was also seen briefly as an actor; in Beloved Aphrodite , Woody Allen cast him in a small role as Oedipus .

In 1988 he received the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Costumes category for his work on Radio Days . In 1995 he was nominated for an Oscar for Bullets Over Broadway in the category Best Costume Design .

In 2015, Kurland was appointed First Vice President to the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
