Yefim Grigoryevich Pushkin ( Russian Ефим Григорьевич Пушкин ; born  January 28, 1899 in Novotroitskaja, Saratov Governorate , Russian Empire ; †  March 11, 1944 in Bashtanka , Soviet Union ) was a Soviet-Russian Lieutenant General of the Soviet Union and Hero .

Life

Jefim Grigoryevich Pushkin grew up in the village of Krutez in the Saratov Governorate (today Rtishchevsky rajon in the Saratov Oblast ). In 1918, Pushkin joined the Red Army as a volunteer and took part as a soldier in the Russian Civil War and in the smashing of the Basmachi in Turkestan . Since 1934 he was with the tank troops .

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War , Colonel Pushkin commanded the 32nd Panzer Division stationed in Lvov and suffered heavy losses in the tank battle between Brody and Rovno at the end of June 1941 . The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet has him on 9 November 1941, the use in the defense of the city of Dnepropetrovsk the award Hero of the Soviet Union awarded. During the war he took part in operations on the Southern Front , Southwest Front , Stalingrad Front and the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Pushkin's tank units were involved in the Battle of Kharkov , the Battle of Stalingrad , the Dnepr-Carpathian Operation , the Bereznegovatoje-Snigiriov Operation and the Donets Basin Operation . On January 18, 1943, he was promoted to lieutenant general.

In a bombing raid by the German Air Force on Bashtanka on March 11, 1944, Pushkin was fatally hit by a fragment.
